Re Rolling Hills Covenant Church, Palos Verdes.NOT a good church for singles, Or "CONSECRATED" singles.
NOT a good church for singles Or should I say "CONSECRATED" singles. I've taken a vow of celibacy but they DON'T seem to understand or respect such a vow here even though it IS Biblical. I am protestant but starting to feel more comfortable in catholic setting which highly respects the consecrated life.

When I see the same ushers in the same spot & the same parking lot attendant in the same spot every Sunday -week after week -never coming inside to hear the message, it tells me that the message really is not that important and you're not going to really learn or grow from it. Otherwise the church would require the workers to sit down during the service and learn something - take a few notes- & also participate in prayer. So the sermon (& even prayer) apparently is just some sort of ceremony we all sit thru and go to - maybe it's good for families with kids - but for the rest of us -we already know it all -so why go to church at all ? I'll just grab a coffee & go direct traffic in the parking lot or be a security guard & tune everything else out - just watch the people & make sure they stand & sit & obey. Or be an usher at the same door 🚪 for 25 years - just make sure people go in, & get out when its over. This is what Rolling Hills Covenant is REALLY teaching me.

WARNING FOR CHRISTIANS ABOUT STAR WARS
I went to the movie (Force Awakens) last night (12/27) because I believed I had to know what people were seeing,and to be an informed Christian I needed to know what the plot of the latest star wars was/is because Christians need to be aware of what's happening in popular culture. I don't necessarily buy into all the warnings about star wars being a promotion of anti-Christian ideology,but its good to keep some of the warnings in mind.

He's an interesting character. I remember auditing a class of one of his close friends, Professor Peter Wagner, who was still teaching at Fuller Seminary at the time I just arrived. Lou also mentioned "principalities & powers" & "signs & wonders" ...a flashback to some of the trends of yesteryear at fuller seminary et al.

3/2/15 Fr Peacha PREACHING @ ST MARY STAR of the SEA, SAN PEDRO...SURPRISED to see fr peacha over here now..he's been at holy trinity for so long..is this just a visit or is he coming on staff here..don't see his name on the bulletin...probably just invited over by harrigan. peacha always preaches a good homily...he's from India..so we keep him in our prayers..keep him filled with the Spirit Lord !

2/14/15 Brad Formsma (from Ada, MI, Dutch CRC) now living in Irvine Area (speaking...*...surprised to see a fellow Dutch CRC from west Michigan here at Mariners
church in Irvine...; as usual I'm sitting in the back attentive to the
service and the pastor introduces a tall blondish guy to talk about
giving...starts with a video clip about how this guy has been all over the
news channels and new book about the joy of giving...; and he comes on
stage and starts talking..suddenly I hear the word Ada Michigan (a suburb
of Grand Rapids) ...he shows a slide of an old country road (looks like the
Thornapple river area....know it well)...; and he keeps talking..I hear him
mention "Dutch CRC'...ha ha..I'm probably one of the few in the
audience...who knows exactly what he's talking about...maybe he went to
CHristian High too ?! age 40...so he's a bit younger than me..but he's
ascending in the world of "evangelism" ; inspirational speech about
giving...; we will see if he can remain optimistic after he experiences the
despondent world of LA homelessness (if he ventures over to that side of
town where you can't go far for long without being hit up for money...; a
bit different than west Michigan) . Hear our prayer for Mike & family ...I
remember when we first came to southern Cal from west Michigan back in the
day (1984)...it was quite the change (but then we didn't move to Newport
beach/Irvine, we moved to a Dutch CRC area of southern Cal) *

Electronics Distracting Parishioners in the Pews? I noticed this young man on his electronic device throughout the service...to the extent that he even forgot , or refused?, to stand up at the time we all stand...I too use my electronic device during the service but as an aid to worship...and as an aid to my worship blog...so it doesn't take me away from worship but adds to it..;
